Fire breaks out at Newbury football ground




Firefighters called to vacant ground

Firefighters have dealt with a fire that broke out at Newbury football ground this evening (Wednesday).

Crews from Newbury extinguished the fire that started in an outbuilding at the vacant ground at around 9pm.

Firefighters will remain on the scene to assess the situation.

West Berkshire Council, which owns the ground, said that it was waiting for the fire brigade confirm the cause of blaze.

The council added that the site would be secured once fire crews had finished their investigation.
