Fire teams called to retirement home in Tadley in suspected 'deliberate' fire




Tadley Fire Station was called to a blaze last night at a retirement home in North Hampshire.

The team was called to Bishopswood Court in Tadley at 6.27pm last night (March 22) alongside two other appliances from Basingstoke.

The fire, involving the bin store, was "well alight" on arrival and was extinguished by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and using hosereel jets.

Tadley Fire Station said: "Thankfully the fire was stopped, only just, from spreading to the adjacent flats however several flats were damaged by smoke and water."

It added: "This fire is being investigated by Hampshire Constabulary."

A spokesperson for the Hampshire Constabulary said: "We were called at 7pm last night, 22 March, to a bin fire within a bin shed on Hangar Road, Tadley.

The fire is suspected to have been set deliberately, and enquiries remain ongoing into the circumstances."
