Fire crews called to two West Berkshire incidents
Two pumps from Newbury were called to a chip pan fire that broke out in a first floor flat in Chesterfield Road, Newbury at 6.57pm yesterday (Thursday).
A 50-year-old man was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
Crews quickly extinguished the fire and used a large extractor fan to clear the smoke, leaving the scene at 7.22pm.
And at 7.53am today (Friday), crews from Dee Road in Tilehurst were called to a car that had caught fire near Elstree School in Upper Woolhampton.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, Nicole Targett, said that the car was well alight when crews arrived.
She added that at this stage the cause of the fire was thought to be accidental.
Crews left the scene at 8.17am after damping the car down and ensuring it was safe.
