Fire crews tackle Thatcham and Reading animal rescues





According to Nicole Targett of the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, one crew from Newbury Fire Station, along with the animal rescue unit from Caversham Road, Reading, were called at 10.05 am to the canal towpath in Station Road, Thatcham. The cow managed to scramble out by itself, and the incident was closed at 10.41am.
The animal rescue unit, Caversham, was again called out at 6.17pm to Fobney Lock, Reading to rescue a Hereford calf. The calf was released from the water by firefighters using strops and lines. The incident was closed at 7.13pm.
