Firefighters battle blaze at Cold Ash pub

According to Bob Mitchell, the watch manager of Red Watch at Newbury Fire Station, one pump from Newbury, one from Wokingham and a third from Pangbourne were called at 4.15pm to the Castle Inn, Cold Ash Hill, to a fire in a storage room.
No-one was hurt, with regulars and guests already evacuated from the premises when firefighters arrived.
Firefighters used a hosereel and four sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze.
The cause was believed to be electrical, but remained under investigation by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS).
High pressure ventilation fans were used to clear smoke from the building.
“Smoke was contained to the storage room, and two adjacent rooms. The bar and accommodation were ok,” said Mr Mitchell.
The fire was extinguished after half an hour.
