Firefighters battle grass fire near Newbury College





Bob Mitchell, watch manager of Red Watch at Newbury Fire Station, said one pump was called at 7.30pm, to a strip of land between the college and Monks Lane.
“About 200 sq m was well alight,” said Mr Mitchell.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze using a hosereel, before damping it down.
The cause was put down to accidental.
Firefighters left the scene at 8.15pm
