Firefighters battle Hungerford house fire for three hours

Property extensively smoke damaged

Firefighters battled a Hungerford house fire for three hours during the early hours of this morning (Fri), which left the property extensively smoke damaged.

Both fire engines from Newbury and a third from Hungerford fire stations were called at midnight to a blaze at a semi-detached house in Charnham Street, affecting the ground and first floors of the property, with smoke visible in the surrounding area.

No-one was in the house at the time.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire using two hosereels, before ventilating the house, using high pressure fans.

Firefighters departed the scene at 3am.

The cause was under investigation.
