Firefighters battle lorry fire on A34 Chieveley slip road




Assistance sent from over the county border

FIREFIGHTERS battled a lorry fire on the A34 slip road near Chieveley on Tuesday morning.

One pump from Newbury Fire Station was called at 11.32am to the A34 slip road south of Chieveley, with a further, back-up pump sent from Didcot to assist.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze using two hosereels.

The cause of the fire was not known.

Firefighters left the scene at 12.20pm.

Traffic queues along the A34 developed during the incident.
