Firefighters battle to free occupants of Chapel Row car





According to Ellie Gray of the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, one fire engine from Newbury and another from Dee Road, Tilehurst, a total ten firefighters, were called at 4.50pm to a single vehicle collision in The Avenue.
“Two people were freed using hydraulic cutting gear and a saw,” said Ms Gray.
Thames Valley Police spokeswoman, Alice Adderley, confirmed police were also called to the incident, at 4.43pm, involving a man and a woman, who sustained minor injuries.
Spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance , Michelle Ullett, confirmed ambulance services were also at the scene, after being called at 4.40pm.
Two ambulance crews and ambulance rapid response car manned by two paramedics attended, treating a male and female at the scene, both in their twenties, who were then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital, in Reading.
The fire service, ambulance service and police all confirmed they did not have any recorded details of the make and model of car involved in this incident.
The incident was closed by the fire service at 5.49pm
