Firefighters called to M4 collision between Reading and Newbury





Crew manager Simon Abbott of green watch, Dee Road fire station, Tilehurst, said pumps from Newbury, Pangbourne and Mortimer fire stations, along with the heavy rescue unit from Tilehurst were called at 1.10pm to the M4 between junctions 12 and 13 westbound, after a Peugeot was involved in a collision with the barrier on the hard shoulder.
Two people were inside the car but no one was hurt.
Firefighters - who initially received an inaccurate report the collision also involved a lorry, with extensive resource therefore mobilised to the scene - made the vehicle safe before departing after an hour.
One lane of the motorway was initially closed.
