Firefighters called to Newbury suspected arsons

Bin fires at Victoria Park and Turnpike children's playground

Firefighters were called out twice in the space of an hour earlier this morning (Monday), to two bin fires, both suspected arsons, in Victoria Park and at a children's playground on the Turnpike estate.

One pump from Newbury fire station was called at 6.10am to a bin fire next to Victoria Park and then again at 7.45am to Turnpike Road, to a fire at a bin in a playground at Claremont Crescent.

Firefighters extinguished the fires with buckets of water.

Both incidents were recorded as suspected arsons by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RB FRS).
