Crew manager Martyn Doolin of Red Watch at Newbury Fire Station said two pumps were called from the station at 7.57pm , along with a heavy rescue unit from Tilehurst, to the A4 near Halfway village, following a collision between a Volkswagon Golf and tractor.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to cut a man , believed to be in his 50's, from the car.
The man was removed from the car on a spinal board, mainly as a precaution, according to firefighters.
Firefighters left the scene after an hour.
One lane of the A4 remained open during the incident.
