FIrefighters cut the roof off a car to free a man who was taken to hospital yesterday evening (Friday).

Two pumps from Newbury Fire Station were called at 7.45pm to a two car collision, at the junction of York Road and Queens Road , near the Burger KIng roundabout.

A man was cut free from an Apha Romeo estate car, after firefighters removed the roof.

The man, who was complaining of neck pain, was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The road was closed for 45 minutes during the incident.

Firefighters left the scene after 45 minutes.
