Firefighters from two counties called to Ashampstead field fire




Straw blaze of several acres

Firefighters from two counties were called to an Ashampstead field fire yesterday (Wed) eve,

Four fire engines, from Newbury and Pangbourne fire stations, plus another two pumps from Oxfordshire, were called at 8.30pm, to a blaze in a field of approximately 30 acres of straw in Dog Lane.

The fire was discovered to be mostly out on arrival.

The cause was recorded as accidental and firefighters left after three quarters of an hour.
