A DRIVER who blocked firefighters in their station became abusive when asked to move, they have said.

The incident happened this morning (Thursday), according to the social media post on an official website around noon.

The message, accompanied by an image of the offending vehicle, stated: "This morning the driver of this car thought it appropriate to park on our station cross hatchings and in front of our 'No Parking' sign to wait for a passenger visiting the doctors surgery.

"When they were politely asked to move, they refused and became verbally abusive and aggressive to the firefighter asking them to move.

"The road markings and signs are there for a reason – firefighters turn in at any time of day and night and need unhindered access to the rear of the station.

"The fire appliance also needs the forecourt space in order to turn left and right out of the station.

"Drivers can be reported to Hampshire Constabulary for this offence."
