Firefighters remove car roof at scene of A34 East Ilsley collision
Watch manager of White Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Phil Knight, said two pumps from Newbury and a third from Didcot, were called at 7pm to the northbound slip road of the East Ilsley junction of the A34, to a collision involving a Toyta Yaris and Ford KA.
The driver and passenger of the Yaris, two females, were trapped and firefighters had to remove the roof, before they were taken out of the vehicles on spinal boards by firefighters, assisted by waiting paramedics.
One lane of the A34 northbound remained open throughout.
Firefighters left the scene after about one hour.
Update
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) were called at 18.50pm yesterday (Tues) to this incident and sent two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle.
Two women were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, after being removed from the car on spinal boards and as a precautionary measure, according to the ambulance service.
