Mother accidentally locks keys in car

Newbury firefighters rescued a baby from a locked car in a car park at an out of town Newbury shopping area this evening (Thursday).

One fire engine was called at 4.55pm from Newbury Fire Station to the public car park next to Dunelm Mill, off the A4, London Road, where a mother had accidentally locked the keys inside a car, together with her baby boy, aged around 15 months.

Firefighters covered the car windows with a special type of plastic, to keep the glass in one piece, before breaking in through the tailgate window.

One of the firefighters then put his arm into the car, before grabbing the keys and opening the door.

The baby was unhurt, if a "Bit grizzly" according to firefighters, who left the scene after about a quarter of an hour.
