Firefighters rescue dog from Purley lock

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue (RBFRS) spokeswoman, Ellie Gray, said two pumps/crews from Tilehurst and Wokingham Road, Reading, along with the Water Rescue Unit, from Caversham Road, Reading, were called at 10.44am to Purley lock, where a large dog, of unknown breed, was stuck in the water.
“The banks were steep and it couldn’t get out,” said Ms Gray.
The dog was assisted out of the water by firefighters and was unhurt.
The incident was closed by the RBFRS at 11.18am.
