Firefighters rescue girl with leg trapped in slide

AN EIGHT-YEAR-OLD girl had a lucky escape from a slide in a Thatcham playground this afternoon (Sunday) after getting her leg stuck in the equipment.

One pump frpm Newbury Fire Station was called at 3.30pm to Station Road, where the girl had accidentally got her leg stuck through a railing at the top of the slide.

Firefighters used spreading equipment to ease the equipment apart and to free the girl, who was scared but unhurt and whose mother and father were at the scene.

Firefighters left the scene after half an hour.
