Firefighters save Beedon property from blaze

Shed fire sets adjacent windows alight

FIREFIGHTERS saved a Beedon property from going up in flames this morning (Wed), after an adjacent shed caught fire.

Two pumps from Newbury Fire Station were called at 9.50am to a property in Westons.

On arrival, firefighters found the 2m by 2m shed well alight, with the smoke plume visible around the local area.

The blazing shed had set fire to adjacent windows of the property

The fire had also ignited a fence, garden gate, coal bunker and bins.

No-one was hurt.

Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the blaze from inside the property, and also outside, by stripping off the woodwork.

The shed, gate and fence were destroyed in the blaze, with light smoke damage inside the property.

The specific cause of the fire was under investigation, but put down to accidental.

Firefighters were at the scene for two and a half hours, before departing at 12.30pm.
