Firefighters tackle 2 Tilehurst bin fires within half an hour




One blaze discovered at children's play area

FIREFIGHTERS tackled two Tilehurst bin fires within half an hour yesterday (Sunday) evening, including one in a children's playground.

One pump from Dee Road Fire Station was called at 9.15pm to the children's play area of a park off Recreation Road in Tilehurst.

A rubbish fire, in a steel waste bin was extinguished by firefighters using a bucket of water.

The fire engine was then called to a further fire in Walnut Way, where rubbish in a bus stop bin was on fire.

The blaze, which was almost out on arrival, was damped down by firefighters using a bucket of water.

The cause of both fires was put down to accidental.

Firefighters left the scene after about half an hour.
