Firefighters tackle Speen kitchen blaze

According to Richard Young, manager of Green Watch at Newbury Fire Station, one fire engine from Newbury, another from Dee Road, Tilehurst, and a third from Kingsclere, a total of 15 firefighters, were called at 7pm to Kersey Crescent, after there was a fire in an oven.
Firefighters used two sets of breathing equipment and a fire extinguisher to put out the flames.
No-one was hurt. The oven was destroyed but the kitchen was not damaged.
