Firefighters tackle Speen loft fire

Crew manager of Blue Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Chris Cound, said one pump from Newbury was called at 7.30am, to a bungalow off the A4, with smoke coming from the loft on arrival.
Firefighters pulled down part of the ground floor ceiling and cut away joists in the floor of the loft, before using two sets of breathing apparatus and a hosereel to extinguish the small fire.
No-one was hurt.
The cause was put down to an electrical fire, due to lighting in the loft.
Firefighters left the scene at 8.30am.
