Fireman Sam's the bees knees

Also there at the nursery’s open day was a fire engine and firefighters from Newbury Fire Station – who proved a big hit with the children, who were given the opportunity to sit inside the engine, wear a helmet and to ‘drive’ the appliance.

They also made their own ice creams, while a cake stall, tombola, treasure hunt and a bouncy castle kept both little ones and parents entertained.

Nursery manager Enid Howson said: “It was a fantastic day and the children absolutely loved Fireman Sam and getting to play in the big red fire engine.”

The youngsters could have their picture taken with Fireman Sam and have it printed and framed on the day.
