Thatcham’s firework night is coming back without a bang
Thatcham’s fireworks are back without a bang this year.
The anticipated event – organised by Kennet School PTA, Francis Baily PTA and Friends of Whitelands Park School – will be returning to Kennet School on November 3.
This year the event will be a low-noise display, set to music.
It is an opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a firework night that is accessible to all, particularly those with sensitivities to loud noises.
The night is hoped to be more visually appealing, less distressful to pets and kinder to wildlife.
The PTAs said they are looking forward to welcoming many neurodiverse families to the quieter-than-normal display.
It will also have a hard-floor wheelchair viewing area for families who require it.
Kennet PTA secretary Chloe Byrne said: “We are delighted to be hosting another inclusive family fireworks event – this year being the fourth display that we have organised.
“We are very much looking forward to working with Friends of Whitelands for the first time at this event, and continuing to partner with Francis Baily PTA who we have jointly run this with since 2018.
“It is fabulous that three schools in Thatcham will benefit from the profits raised.”
Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased from The Co-Op in Station Road, Sweet Imagination in the Broadway, Kennet School’s office in Stoney Lane, Francis Baily office in Skillman Drive and Whitelands Park school office in Sagecroft Road.
