Fireworks nights in Kingsclere and Silchester prove huge success
Held at the Fieldgate Centre, the school’s main annual fundraiser, organised by the Friends of Kingsclere Primary School, the event lit up the skies around the village on Saturday night, watched by about 1,000 people. New this year was a dance display from Kingsclere based, Feel the Beat.
FKS chairwoman Louise White, said: “This is a fantastic community event. We have a team of volunteers who put a huge amount of work into making the event happen and we receive great support from the many people who attend, as well as from local companies who provide sponsorship. Once again, the evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and also provided us with a much needed boost to our funds.”
The cash will provide equipment and extra curricular opportunities at the school.
A bonfire and fireworks in Silchester also proved a huge success on Saturday. A large crowd gathered in the paddock behind Silchester House at the event, organised by Silchester Association.
The night kicked off with a pumpkin-carving competition, judged by members of the British Red Cross, who provided First Aid cover for the event. Prize winner was Charlie Bryant, whose sister Millie was in second place.
