An application for permission to put up a blue plaque commemorating the first ever doctor’s surgery in Thatcham has been submitted.

Bradley Moore House is Grade II listed and was a doctors’ surgery from 1909.

It was the first doctors’ surgery in Thatcham to offer free public health services.

The Heritage Working Party at Thatcham Town Council says it has done significant research into this building and wishes to celebrate the town’s heritage and history by putting up the commemorative plaque.

“Members of the public will be able to share in this celebration and will be invited to attend the unveiling,” said the council.

“It will then be included in the town’s paper guide and website afterwards with further details about the town’s heritage.”
