First ever volunteering fair is taking place in Thatcham today (Sat)

Organised by the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire, the fair is open until 3pm for anyone still wanting to find out about volunteering opportunities in the town.
Organisations including Thatcham Vision, Girlguiding Kennet Vale District, West Berkshire Mencap and Berkshire County Blind Society are currently in the Catholic Hall, Bath Road, showing members of the public what they do and explaining why they need volunteers.
Director of the Volunteer Centre, Garry Poulson, said that the event was a showcase of volunteering opportunities in Thatcham.
He said: “The public have been coming through the door in good numbers and we are already recruiting.
“The reaction so far has been really good.
“It has been up beat and exciting and the car park is full.”
See Thursday’s Thatcham News for more pictures and reaction to the fair.
Log back on later to see images from the day in the picture gallery and next week for a video from the event.
