First pictures: The Great Christmas Carnival starts on Sunday at Newbury Racecourse




It’s all go at Newbury Racecourse this weekend as it prepares to host two major events.

The new-look Coral Gold Cup Meeting and The Great Christmas Carnival will kick off the festive fun.

Sunday sees the start of The Great Christmas Carnival, where a Flying Father Christmas will soar above the crowds every hour.

Billed as "the biggest festive event in the South outside of London", the carnival will run at Newbury Racecourse from November 27 until January 2.

The Coral Gold Cup Meeting – formerly known as the Hennessy Gold Cup for almost 60 years and then The Ladbrokes Trophy for the past five years – will take place tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday.

Celebrities, cocktails and an afterparty will help add to the festive atmosphere.
