Five men arrested in rural crime blitz





Thames Valley Police teamed up with residents to patrol the district’s rural villages from 9pm on Sunday night until 6am on Morning morning, as part of Operation Festive, which was launched in a bid to stamp-out rural crime.
Among the five arrested were two men from Bristol, aged 24 and 25, who were arrested on suspicion of hunting wild animals with dogs on the West Berkshire, Wiltshire border.
Another man, aged 54 from Tadley, Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of attempted burglary following an incident in Thatcham, West Berkshire..
And a further two men from Reading, aged 30 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of going equipped to steal fuel from vehicles in Burghfield Common.
All five remain in police custody.
