Flames leapt from Thatcham computer salvage site blaze

Watch manager of Red Watch at Newbury Fire Station, Bob Mitchell, said three pumps were called at 11.10pm, including two from Newbury and a third from Tilehurst, to a computer salvage company in Aylesford Way.
Firefighters discovered flames 20 foot high on arrival, issuing from stored materials including mixed plastic, metal and copper wire.
“It was well alight with flames twenty foot high,” said Mr Mitchell.
Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the blaze, using a main jet and also foam - due to plastic material contained in the fire.
The cause has yet to be established at the secure site, with an investigation ongoing by the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS)
Firefighters left the scene after two hours.
