Flammable gas cylinders in van fire led to closure of A34

Motorists were stuck on the A34 between Newbury and Chilton for several hours after it was shut due to a van fire.

Crews from Newbury Fire Station attended the scene, along with crews from Whitley Wood Fire Station, and the dual carriageway had to be shut in both directions along with nearby roads in order to to ensure everyone's safety.

The crews had to extinguish the fire, then cool the cylinders before moving them.
