Flood alerts issued for West Berkshire and North Hampshire, on the River Kennet, River Enborne and River Pang




Flood alerts have been issued for parts of West Berkshire and North Hampshire.

The alerts, which were issued by the Environment Agency yesterday (January 1) include the River Kennet, River Enborne and River Pang.

The alerts mean that flooding is possible in the areas highlighted.

The River Kennet has the alert in place from Thatcham down to Reading, including Burghfield, Colthrop, Woolhampton, Aldermaston, Theale, Calcot and Southcote.

While the alert in place on the River Enborne covers the area from Gore End down to Aldermaston, including the Ecchinswell Brook and the Kingsclere Brook, as well as the Foudry Brook and its tributaries from Scotsman's Green to Green Park, including Stratfield Mortimer and Tadley on the Bishopswood Stream.

On the River Pang the alert is in place from East Ilsley to Pangbourne, including Compton, Hampstead Norreys, Frilsham, Bucklebury, Stanford Dingley, Bradfield and Tidmarsh; and the Sulham Brook from Theale to Pangbourne including Sulham.

The government website advises people in these areas to "avoid using low lying footpaths or entering areas prone to flooding" and to "start acting on your flood plan if you have one"
