Flood alerts remain in place over weekend on rivers Kennet and Pang

According to the Environment Agency (EA), further rainfall is expected across much of the South East later tomorrow (Saturday), with up to 20mm forecast in some areas.
River levels are continuing to rise in some areas in response to last night’s rainfall. The EA is warning homeowners to be as prepared as possible for any potential flooding, particularly in Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Hertfordshire.
Ian Tomes, EA area flood risk manager, said: “With more rain falling on already saturated ground and swollen rivers, I would encourage people to continue to check the Environment Agency website for the latest flooding situation and to sign up to receive direct flood warnings. Residents and business owners who may be at risk need to act now to limit the damage a flood can cause to themselves and to their property.”
A flood alert remains in place for the River Kennet and its tributaries from Berwick Bassett down to Newbury.
This includes Marlborough, Ramsbury, Hungerford, Denford, Kintbury and Newbury.
Also the River Og, the River Aldbourne, the Froxfield Stream, the River Dun and the River Shalbourne.
A flood alert is also in place on the River Pang, from East Ilsley to Pangbourne, including Compton, Hampstead Norreys, Frilsham, Bucklebury, Stanford Dingley, Bradfield and Tidmarsh and the Sulham Brook, from Theale to Pangbourne, including Sulham.
A further flood alert is in place on the River Thames and its tributaries, from Days Lock, to above Pangbourne.
The flood risk is low today (Friday) but further widespread and heavy rainfall will arrive from the south tomorrow (Saturday), continuing into Sunday.
With this falling onto saturated ground and with rivers remaining high further disruption is likely. Significant disruption, such as further interruptions to travel and flooding affecting properties and parts of communities, is possible in all four counties given above.
