Flooding affects low lying roads in Newbury and surrounding area





According to the Environment Agency (EA), flood alerts are again in place in Newbury and the surrounding areas in respect of the four rivers Enborne, Thames, Pang and Lambourn.
Flooding of the River Lambourn and its tributaries from Upper Lambourn to Newbury is affecting low lying land and roads adjacent to the river, including in Shaw, Donnington, Eastbury, East Garston, Welford, Easton, Boxford, Woodspeen, Bagnor, Great Shefford and Winterbourne.
Bucklebury and Tidmarsh are among areas particularly affected by flooding of low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Pang, from East Ilsley to Pangbourne and Sulham Brook, which is out of the floodplain in the Pangbourne area.
Low lying land and roads adjacent to the River Enborne and Foudry Brook are also affected, with groundwater flooding continuing in the Lambourn Valley catchment area and also West and East Ilsley, Compton, Chilton and West Hagbourne.
The River Thames has spilled out of the floodplain between Days lock to above Pangbourne, with river levels continuing to rise between Panbourne and Purley.
No property flooding was currently expected, according to the EA.
The Met Office weather forecast for London and the South East today (Mon) is sun/scattered showers, followed by a cold night, with scattered showers and icy patches.
Tuesday will see bright spells mixed with heavy/wintry showers.
