Flooding on Monks Lane causes traffic hold-up in Newbury

There is reported flooding on Monks Lane this morning (Thursday).

Heavy overnight rainfall has caused flooding along this stretch of road between the junctions with Rupert Road and Heather Gardens.

The road, which is known to flood, is experiencing more water than normal.

Traffic is building on this route as morning commuters make their way through the water – adding to the school and work rush.

The AA is recording slow-moving traffic on Monks Lane through to the A339.

Traffic has also been reported on St Johns roundabout up to Bartholomew Street. There are delays around the Gun pub.

Four way traffic lights have reportedly been place on Enbourne Road, at the junction with Rockingham Road, causing further delays.
