Floods aftermath delays Lido opening

DELAYS to groundwater works are currently preventing the Northcroft lido from opening.
Northcroft Leisure Centre says it has been pumping groundwater out of the pool following the floods at the start of the year, but that it is not making any difference.
The centre is now waiting on West Berkshire Council to assess the drainage issues before it can give an exact date of when the pool will open.
A statement from the centre said: “Following the winter flooding and the current groundwater conditions, works in preparing the Northcroft outdoor lido in readiness for the summer have been unavoidably delayed.
“Our partners West Berkshire Council and Parkwood Community Leisure continue to monitor the situation with the aim of finalising the preparations for reopening as soon as possible.”
The centre added that pool would “definitely open this year” and the date would be published on its website as soon as it was known.
