Flying Scotsman passing through Newbury
An iconic steam train will be passing through Newbury later this month.
The Flying Scotsman is a famous express passenger train that is celebrating 100 years of service this year.
Named after the service between Edinburgh and London on which it operated, the train is embarking on a number of excursions throughout the country this year to celebrate its centenary.
On Wednesday, June 21, the Flying Scotsman is passing through West Berkshire on its way to Salisbury.
The train will be stopping at Reading to pick up passengers at approximately 10.20am, meaning it will pass through Newbury sometime after that for those who want to catch a glimpse of the famous locomotive.
Times are not available for public viewing due to safety reasons.
At Reading it will join the Berks and Hants line which runs through the rural countryside.
It will pass Newbury Racecourse and then go through Newbury and continue westwards, travelling beside the Kennet and Avon Canal, and then to Savernake Summit.
Spaces are fully booked and a waiting list is in operation.
