Folk sisters win fans wherever they go
The Askew Sisters appear at The Forge, Basingstoke, on Thursday at 8pm. The young duo Emily and Hazel are making waves on the folk scene with their intelligent arrangements of songs and foot stomping tunes. Playing mainly traditional English music, they have become known for their striking interpretations and arrangements of songs and ballads. Their infectious enjoyment of and love for music, combined with their energetic treatment of dance tunes on fiddle and melodeon, win them fans wherever they go. 2010 saw the release of their second album
to much critical acclaim and in 2011, Hazel won Best Female Singer at the Spiral Earth Awards.
