Fond farewell to long-serving staff member Mary McCready

Mary McCready started working at Sainsbury’s Kennet Centre store in 1980 but is now looking forward to a much deserved retirement after 34 years of service to the supermarket.
In recognition of her service, colleagues organised a buffet and the presentation of a watch, gift voucher, cake and flowers.
Mrs McCready's career started on the produce department before she moved to the delicatessen. She also spent three years at the supermarket’s Torquay store before spending the last few years as a bakery confectioner.
She said “Travelling to London to be presented with my 25-year long service award by Sainsbury’s former chairman Justin King was a highlight. I have enjoyed the customer care and will really miss the company of customers and colleagues.”
Sainsbury’s Newbury store manager Dene Burton said: “Thirty four years is a remarkable length of service and Mary has been a dedicated member of the Newbury store team. We wish her all the very best on her retirement.”
Mrs McCready runs a weekly craft club at Carnarvon Place retirement housing, she will also be busy spending time with her 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
