Big Thatcham Fest-Off brings fun to the High Street
The Big Thatcham Fest-Off returned this weekend for food, fun and lots of fudge.
Stalls selling sweet treats and one-of-a-kind crafts lined the High Street on Saturday night.
A selection of drinks were on hand thanks to Delphic Brewing Company and Gee Gee Gin alongside savoury food stall The Jerk Chicken Company.
Tearoom Bambi, Creative Cakes, Molly’s Delights and Vanillo were on hand for those with a sweeter tooth.
High Street retailer and Fest-Off sponsor, Picture it Framed, was open and chatting with passers by next door to Shades of Siam for art and tattoos inspired by Southeast Asia.
Two stages were set up across The Broadway – a main stage featuring bands A Dirty Soul, Beyond the Sons, TV Yellow and Groove X – and an acoustic stage hosted by Josh Smith featuring a number of local artists.
Musician Anya Lewis kicked off the acoustic stage followed by Ronan Hatfull, Ben Baron, A Dirty Soul, Josh Fidler and finishing with Josh Smith at 8pm.
Mayor of Thatcham Mark Lillycrop said: “We are really pleased with the turnout of the traders, we have got a fabulous line up of musicians this year and we have got two stages instead of one.
“It is a great way to get the festival week off with a bang and make sure that everybody has a good time.”
Before taking to the main stage, Beyond the Sons lead guitarist Jake Collingwood said he was excited for the set and enjoys the relaxed atmosphere of playing a familiar event.
Looking to the future he said: “I want is to be able to make a living off of music and play to huge audiences singing my songs, that’d be the dream.”
