Food waste bins on the way

Waste company to deliver food waste bins to households in West Berkshire

ANOTHER waste collection service is being rolled out across West Berkshire.

Residents will soon be issued with a ventilated waste caddy, designed to be stored in a kitchen, for the disposal of a range of food wastes including dairy, fish, vegetables, bread, and even teabags.

A supply of biodegradable bags will be given for use with the caddy.

The bags are to be put in either the green or black wheelie bins already issued to residents, ensuring food waste is collected weekly.

Once the scheme launches on October 31 recycling and garden waste will be collected one week, with the black bins collected the other week.

The move has been made to tie in with the opening of West Berkshire Council's new multi-million pound waste and recycling centre at Padworth.
