Football tournament and fun day in memory of popular youth worker
Christian charity YMCA Newbury will run a football tournament and fun day in memory of a popular youth worker who died in December 2020.
James McMahon, who worked for YMCA Newbury and St Lawrence Church in Hungerford, died suddenly, aged 38, on December 29, 2020.
Following his death, Kennet Christian Centre raised £25,000 to support his family.
Mr McMahon had established the YMCA’s annual football tournament, and this year’s event is being held in his honour.
The tournament is set for Saturday (July 2) at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground in Thatcham.
Juniors (under 12) will play from 11am to 1pm and seniors from 2pm to 5pm.
The James McMahon Trophy will be presented to the winners.
Other activities will include a bouncy castle, barbecue, stone painting, face painting and a virtual reality rollercoaster.
