Former Hermitage man convicted for part in dating website scam

Married father-of-two Adewunmi Nusi, 37, now of Cambridge, was found guilty of money laundering following a three week trial at Winchester Crown Court.
He was part of a group which targeted single women looking for love in which victims were duped after responding to a false profile of an “attractive middle-aged man” on the match.com website.
The victims fell for the conman’s story that he was going to receive a £100m inheritance from his father but that it was tied up by red tape in India.
One victim was conned into handing over £174,000.
Detective Constable Darrin Carey, of Hampshire Police said: “This case centres around a web of lies constructed by a devious group of people with the sole intention of exploiting emotionally vulnerable women for financial gain.”
He has been remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court next month.
