Former Newbury events manager leaves BID team

Mrs Paus (pictured with Russell Downing) has been a familiar face in the town after becoming events manager in 2009 when she was employed by the now defunct Town Centre Partnership.
Last year she took up a co-ordinator role with the Newbury Business Improvement District (BID) team; a businesses' group generating £200,000 a year for town centre projects and events.
Under the leadership of BID manager Russell Downing, the BID was adopted by Newbury businesses in May, with 72 per cent of the turnout voting in favour of the scheme.
Mrs Paus has now decided to step down from her role in order to study art.
On replacing Mrs Paus, who leaves her role today (Friday), Mr Downing said: “It will be for the board to decide when we next meet.
“There will be a requirement for a co-ordinator but to what extent I don’t know.”
The BID board’s next meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday (17).
During her role as Newbury’s events manager Mrs Paus, a former BBC and Meridian television producer, organised events such as a Latin American festival, Hallowe’en hullabaloo and an animal awareness day.
She said: “I am incredibly proud of our achievement in securing a resounding Yes vote for the BID, many exciting projects will be delivered in the town during the next five years and Russell and I have worked hard to set this in motion.
“My last task was to programme a series of Christmas events which I hope will entertain and enthral and bring new shoppers to the town.
“I am very grateful to have been given a chance to play a role in the town, it's a very special place for me and my family.”
