Four suspected of burglary in Upper Woolhampton

Burglar alarm alerted property owner yesterday evening (Monday)

FOUR people have been arrested on suspicion of burglary in connection with a break-in at a property in Upper Woolhampton last night (Monday).

Officers were called to Kiff Green at about 11.30pm after the 67-year-old man that owned the property alerted police that a burglar alarm on an outbuilding belonging to him had been activated and that a vehicle had been seen leaving the scene.

Police received reports of two vehicles, a John Deere Gator and Woodchipper being stolen.

On further inspection of the outbuilding, a large wooden garage, the owner discovered that someone had forced entry.

Officers were deployed to the area, including support from Chiltern Air Support Unit and during the search the Force helicopter identified four people with a vehicle acting suspiciously in a field, near Paices Hill, Aldermaston. Chiltern Air Support contained the area until local units including Roads Policing and the Dog Section attended and the four were arrested.

Officers attended and a short time later four men, aged 21, two aged 20, and one aged 17, were arrested nearby on suspicion of burglary.

They currently remain in police custody at Newbury police station.
