Four thousand West Berkshire homes without water today
At about 7am today 4,000 properties in Mortimer and Burghfield found themselves without water due to a fault with one of Thames Water’s booster pump.
St John's Infant School and St Mary's Junior School, both in Mortimer, have both had to close for the day, but are expected to re-open tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Mrs Bland's Infant School and Garland Junior School, both in Burghfield, are experiencing low water pressure but remain open.
Fellow Burghfield schools, The Willink School and Burghfield St Mary's Primary School, have not been affected by the problem and are open as usual.
Thames Water spokesman, Craig Rance said: “A fault on a booster pump that pushes water uphill caused an interruption to supplies for around 4,000 homes in the area.
“We fixed the problem and restored water to the network just before 9am.
“We're really sorry for the inconvenience caused by this.”
