Free events in Newbury town centre this weekend

Children's favourites, the ZingZillas, will hold a meet and greet, and the Time for Tea show will be on offer

SHOPPERS might expect to come across some light entertainment in Newbury town centre this weekend.

People are being encouraged to enjoy the finer things in life at a performance of Time for Tea today (Saturday) as the Wet Picnic's Tea Ladies will sweep through the streets to supply an explosive and surreal teatime for everyone to enjoy.

The eccentric ensemble is set to get the taste buds tingling as they perform Time for Tea in the Market Place at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm.

With tricks, trolley dancing, a glimpse into the dark world of tea-leaf reading and surprise visitors, Time for Tea will give people the chance to escape the stresses of modern day life.

The shows are all free-of-charge and have been funded by Greenham Common Trust and managed by the Corn Exchange as some of several organised for the Christmas season. I

Tomorrow (Sunday), Zak and Panzee from children's cartoon, Zingzillas, will be meeting people in Kennet Shopping centre from 10.30am and people are being encouraged to go early to avoid disappointment and have a photograph taken with the pair.
