SUMMER is here and so is Out & About, the free Newbury Weekly News quarterly magazine filled with features, fashion, lifestyle advice, food and drink, leisure and a round-up of what’s on, plus six free-to-enter competitions. Out & About is available from various outlets in and around Newbury from Thursday, June 14, when we'll be in Northbrook Street, Newbury, handing out copies – so pop by, pick up your copy and say hello.

If you’re looking for inspiration for days out with the family over the summer, we’ve compiled a selection of places to visit, mostly within an hour’s drive, plus a few further afield for those looking for something a bit different.

We all want to get outside and enjoy the great outdoors while the sun is shining, but it’s also tick season and while most of them are harmless, the long-term effects of Lyme disease are becoming more apparent. Angela Knight talked to one family about their struggles to get treatment for both their sons who have been affected by Lyme.

If the rain does come down and sends everyone scuttling indoors, board game wizard John Herring has selected a few different games to try, to keep the whole family entertained.

On the food front, Hilary Scott paid a visit to the newly-refurbished Dundas Arms, Kintbury, and is full of praise for the varied menu. She’s also come up with an easy al fresco three-course meal to try at home and we continue sampling the great range of independent outlets in our Café Culture feature.

Add to this some bright summer fashion ideas, how to exercise with your baby, some summer book suggestions and the chance to win some great prizes.

Make sure you pick up your copy of the new 100-page Out & About.
