Free spiritual festival coming to Newbury
People invited to join in celebration of love, unity and diversity
A FREE cultural and spiritual music festival celebrating love, unity, peace and diversity is coming to Newbury for the first time this weekend.
The organisers of the Newbury Rathayatra Festival promise to bring colour, music and dancing to Northbrook Street and Victoria Park when it visits town on Saturday.
The 5,000-year-old street festival is celebrated in more than 400 major cities around the world, including London, San Francisco, New York, Durban and Tokyo.
Those attending will be able to take in a live Mantra Music show, relax in yoga tents and meditation tents, or get themselves a henna tattoo or have their face painted.
After an action-packed afternoon, taste buds will be tantalised with a free vegetarian feast for everyone who attends the festival in Victoria Park.
The festival starts at 1pm with a procession through Newbury town centre, which will feature a top-class line-up of traditional Kirtan bands.
The Mantra Music in Victoria Park will take place from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
